SPECIALTY CARE / SCLERAL LENSES

Scleral lenses. Precisely fitted.

Personalized specialty lens care for irregular corneas and visual needs that may not respond to conventional contact lenses.

UNDERSTANDING SCLERAL LENSES

A different approach to complex vision correction.

Scleral lenses are large-diameter specialty contact lenses designed to vault the cornea and rest on the sclera, the white part of the eye. A reservoir of fluid sits between the lens and the cornea.

They may be considered for patients with irregular corneas, including keratoconus, and selected ocular surface conditions. Not all patients require scleral lenses, and a fitting assessment is essential.

INDIVIDUAL FITTING

Designed around your eyes.

A detailed evaluation helps the clinician select a lens design, assess fit and vision, and identify whether scleral lenses are suitable. Specialty fittings typically involve adjustments, training and follow-up rather than a one-visit prescription.

Patients also receive individualized instruction on lens insertion, removal, cleaning and safe wear.

WHO WE SEE

Support for challenging visual needs.

Our specialty contact lens care may be relevant to patients with irregular corneal shape, complex prescriptions, or comfort challenges with conventional lenses. The clinician will discuss available options based on your examination.

COMMON QUESTIONS

What to know before your visit.

Are scleral lenses comfortable?

Comfort varies. Their design avoids direct contact with the cornea, but suitability and comfort can only be assessed during fitting.

How many appointments are needed?

A specialty lens fitting can require multiple visits to refine the fit and review eye health. The team will outline your specific plan.

Can I book online?

You can start with the online booking page; if a specific consultation type is unavailable, contact the clinic to arrange the appropriate evaluation.
