SPECIALTY CARE / PROSE
PROSE treatment for complex eye conditions.
Specialized assessment and individualized care for patients with complex ocular surface and corneal needs.
ABOUT PROSE
Individualized care for complex ocular surface needs.
PROSE stands for Prosthetic Replacement of the Ocular Surface Ecosystem. It is a specialized treatment approach involving a customized prosthetic device that rests over the eye and creates a fluid-filled space over the corneal surface.
For selected patients, PROSE may support ocular surface protection and visual function when conventional options have not been sufficient. The appropriate approach depends on a detailed clinical assessment.
WHO MAY BENEFIT
For patients whose needs go beyond conventional lenses.
Patients with complex ocular surface disease, corneal irregularity or persistent visual challenges may be considered for specialty evaluation. Not every patient is an appropriate candidate.
Dr. Ramdass has a PROSE clinical appointment with Kensington Eye Institute/KVRC. The eyecademy team can discuss whether an eyecademy evaluation or a different referral pathway is appropriate.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A careful, individualized process.
A specialty consultation reviews your symptoms, ocular history and previous treatment experience. Additional assessments may be required to determine whether PROSE or another form of care may be suitable.
If treatment is recommended, fitting, instruction, and follow-up form part of the process. The number and location of visits depend on the clinical pathway and are confirmed by the care team.
COMMON QUESTIONS
What to know before your visit.
Is PROSE the same as a standard contact lens?
No. PROSE is a specialized prosthetic-device treatment tailored to complex ocular surface or corneal needs.
Do I need a referral?
Please contact the clinic for the most appropriate pathway. Some patients come through professional referrals, while others begin by contacting the team.
Will PROSE improve my vision?
Results vary by diagnosis and individual circumstances. A clinician must assess whether the treatment is appropriate and discuss realistic goals.
